"Saint Frances" Review

"Saint Frances" is a drama film directed by Alex Thompson, and written by and starring Kelly O'Sullivan. It follows Bridget (O'Sullivan) as she navigates the complications that arise from her job as a babysitter for six-year-old Frances (Ramona Edith Williams) as well as from an unwanted pregnancy and subsequent abortion. The film explores issues such as motherhood, abortion, and the reluctance to open up about emotions with a great amount of grace, humor and heart. Every performance was pitch-perfect, especially O'Sullivan and Williams. The central dynamic between Bridget and Frances is the standout as it grounds Bridget and gives her a gradual outlet for affection. It is also a handy way for the audience to root for Bridget to overcome her struggles in the face of her personality flaws. The film is heartfelt and funny, and I was thoroughly engrossed all the way to its bittersweet conclusion. I highly recommend "Saint Frances"! Please do not miss out on this brilliant gem of a movie!
