The Call (2020), Athena (2022), Triangle of Sadness (2022)

“The Call” (2020) 是一套很緊張的驚悚電影，講述兩個生在不同時空的女人可以通過一個電話對話，反派角色很夠瘋狂，劇情上的變化還算做的不錯。特顯事件已經發生重大改變的視覺效果也頗特別，而雖然故事不是很新鮮，這套電影還是算做得很好，值得一看。

The Call (2020) is a tense thriller about two women communicating over a phone but with a time-bending spin, featuring a very deranged villain and some familiar but well-executed plot twists. The visuals denoting a change in the timeline is also quite inventive, and while the film isn't very original, it was quite well done and I really recommend this film. 

“Athena” (2022) 是一套動作/驚悚電影，講述發生在法國一個住宅區的內亂事件，電影有幾段都是用長鏡頭拍攝的，讓觀眾可以完全地投入電影建構的環境。可是電影的故事和人物都缺乏足夠的深度，在於這一種滿政治色彩的題材，這一點就更加明顯了。雖然如此，電影在技術上的設計和鋪排都非常出色，單靠這一點，如果你想看一套刺激和猶如身歷其境的動作電影，我仍然會推薦“Athena”。

Athena (2022) is an action thriller focused on civil unrest in and around a housing estate in France, featuring several long takes without any cuts, giving a heightened sense of immersion into the world of the film. However, the story and characters were quite thin and, while politically charged, did not ultimately have much substance. Of course, the technical work that went into crafting every sequence in the film is breathtaking and on that alone I recommend this film if you want an exciting, immersive, and claustrophobic action spectacle.

“Triangle of Sadness” (2022) 是一套黑色喜劇電影，講述兩個年輕的模特兒參加一個豪華郵輪之旅，從中帶出關於貧富和權力差距的議題。電影有很多諷刺性的笑料，帶出船上的超級富豪很多都非常自我中心，而他們受盡折磨的情節總是最惹笑的。故事的後段帶來重大的變化，令角色間既定的階級定位有所轉變，更是表明了權力的誘惑。總括來說， 這套電影每一個角色都很引人注目，縱使他們有極大的缺點也好，而電影對權貴的諷刺雖然略帶誇張但亦很尖銳，所以我非常推薦這一套諷刺權力和貧富差距的電影。

Triangle of Sadness (2022) is a dark comedy about wealth and power disparity viewed mainly through the lens of two young up-and-coming models as they join a luxury cruise on a fancy yacht. The film has many darkly hilarious instances showing the super-rich being self-centered and clueless, and the parts where the rich passengers on the yacht are thoroughly humiliated and had their faults shown make for some truly laugh-out-loud moments. The third act, where the film shifts its setting and effectively upends the class dynamics held as fact throughout the rest of the film, shows that the age-old adage of "power corrupts" is true as a new power dynamic emerges between the various characters. Overall, every major character is compelling to watch, flaws and all, and its satire of wealth is pointed if exaggerated, and I really recommend this movie as a funny takedown of wealth disparity and the nature of power.

"Immaculate" Review

《Immaculate》是一套恐怖電影，講述了一位年輕的美國修女在義大利的一座修道院裡發現自己神秘懷孕的故事。 Sydney Sweeney 飾演主角Cecilia，試圖找出懷孕背後的原因。 影片在開頭幾分鐘就展示修道院裡發生了一些恐怖的事情，然後花了一些時間透過Cecilia讓我們透過了解修道院裡的人。 然後Cecilia懷孕了，電影的其餘部分著重於解開它是如何發生的以及這個謎團對修道院和Cecilia本人產生的種種反應。 電影的節奏其實拖得有點長，不過最後的20 分鐘彌補了之前的部分，為核心謎團提供了答案，大大加快了節奏，我們亦見到Cecilia漸漸敢於反抗，並從而展示了Sydney Sweeney的演技。電影的尾段帶來了實際的恐怖的氣氛，並透過結局豐富了電影的前半部分。 因此，雖然電影的節奏實在有點瑕疵，但一個有趣的謎團、Sydney Sweeney出色的演出以及緊張的尾段令《Immaculate》成為一套我推薦的電影。 "Immaculate" is a horror film about a young American nun in a convent in Italy who discovers that she is mysteriously pregnant. Quick Review: Sunshine (2007)

A science-fiction thriller with a more deliberate, philosophical undercurrent, Sunshine is a remarkable movie concerning a bunch of scientists and astronauts attempting to use a massive bomb to "restart" the dying sun. The visuals are gorgeous, the script, courtesy of Alex Garland who later wrote and directed Ex Machina and Annihilation, is quite intellectual and focused more on realism and the questions of morality that the characters face as things go wrong and resources dwindle. There are brave sacrifices and queries of which crew member is more valuable to the mission, all within a framework of plausible science. The score by John Murphy is also great, and a particular track ("Adagio in D Minor") is instantly iconic.
